National Disability Employment Awareness Month 2026
Join PA Treasury in October for its webinar series recognizing National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). This year’s sessions will explore how to set up a system of financial self-care to give yourself less stress and more choices, the changing landscape of Neurodiversity employment, and more information for individuals with a disability seeking employment.
Hear from experts who will share their knowledge and allow time for questions. ASL interpreters will be provided.

NDEAM 2026: Build a System of Financial Self Care
Living with debt can strain a person emotionally and socially, adding layers of extra thought and stress to making even everyday decisions. Will Hall, Chief Executive Officer of the Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation, and Diana Fishlock, PA ABLE Outreach Specialist, will focus on small steps to help you improve your financial wellbeing, increase your savings, lower anxiety about finances, and create a system of financial self-care, health and wellness.
We will discuss different types of savings and debt and the benefits of PA ABLE accounts, as well as resources available from a local bank or credit union.
The PA ABLE Savings Program gives individuals with qualified disabilities a tax-free way to save for a wide range of disability-related expenses while maintaining important benefits such as medical assistance, Social Security disability benefits and waivers. The employment landscape is constantly evolving, especially for neurodivergent individuals. Hear from Laura McAnulty, Executive Director of the Neurodiversity Employment Network of Philadelphia, and Abby Jayroe, Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships & Operations at NEXT for AUTISM, who will help you navigate the changing landscape, offering the latest information on opportunities and resources for neurodivergent individuals in the employment world.
Engage with us in conversation about what neurodivergent employees can teach us about the future of work and what Pennsylvania employers can do to attract, support, and retain this growing segment of the workforce. Attendees will leave with practical considerations they can bring back to their own organizations, along with a clearer understanding of how workplace practices can create more opportunities for neurodivergent people to succeed and thrive at work. As a reminder, starting on September 16, 2026, Harrisburg School District students will have a 2-hour early dismissal on most Wednesdays throughout the school year. Summer Bridge Program for Incoming Harrisburg High School Freshmen and the Class of 2030!
Plan now to attend Harrisburg High School’s Summer Bridge Program for incoming freshmen at JOHN HARRIS CAMPUS on August 10, 11, 12, and 13 from 8:45 am to 12:15 pm. This is your chance to connect with future classmates and teachers, participate in exciting team-building activities, and start planning your high school journey so that you can graduate with the Class of 2030!

Notice of Updates for Board Meetings
The Harrisburg School District would like to inform the public that the General Business Board Meeting, originally set for Tuesday, May 19, 2026, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 6:00 PM. This change is due to the upcoming election.
Additionally, a Special Board Meeting will take place on June 30, 2026, to address general business matters.
Both meetings will be held in the Administration Building (Board Room) at 1010 North 7th Street, Harrisburg, PA 17102.

Kudos and thanks to our Camp Curtin Academy families and students who came out for this evening's Power PSSA & Family Engagement Fun Night. In addition to good food, games, and family fun, families received information about the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) testing changes, preparation strategies, the power of encouragement and boosting their child's confidence, and how to support their child's overall educational success.

On December 2, 2025, the Harrisburg School Board of Directors conducted their reorganization meeting, which resulted in Ms. Roslyn Copeland being elected as President and Ms. Autumn Anderson as Vice President with service from January 2026 through December 2026.

All were sworn in by Dauphin County's Magisterial District Judge, the Honorable Hanif Johnson.
