Dear Ben Franklin Elementary School Kindergarten Parents,

I’m pleased to inform you that we will be maintaining Full Day Kindergarten at Ben Franklin Elementary School. As we have previously shared, we have been facing a significant teaching shortage that has forced us to look to alternatives to our traditional programs.

Several of our kindergarten families were willing to allow their kindergarten students to transfer to a different elementary school within the Harrisburg School District. This alleviated the shortage we’ve been experiencing.

Schools nationwide have struggled with teacher and other staff shortages, and the PA Department of Education has developed a task force to address this challenge. We will continue to do all we can in our school district to attract highly qualified teachers to our schools.
