Marshall Math Science Academy is an application-based program serving students in 5th-8th grade. Our program focuses on promoting excellence through the use of STEAM inspired education and curriculum.

 

STEAM Education is an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.

 

Our diverse school community is also focused on college and career readiness. Students use project-based learning to enhance communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and computational skills while solving the problems of today.

Acceptance Requirements:

Completed applications will be reviewed by the MMSA Admissions Team.  Questions or concerns should be directed to Ryan Jones, Principal. 

 

If minimum requirements (2.5 core GPA minimum, including grades from the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd marking periods in Math, Science, English, and Social Studies, positive behaviors, attendance, cooperative learning, punctuality, resourcefulness, initiative, etc.) are met and a complete application has been submitted, an interview will be scheduled. 

 

Final admissions determinations are based upon teacher recommendations, grades, attendance, discipline record, and an interview. 

 

Parents, guardians, and students will be notified of admissions status on or about May 27, 2022.   Students who are accepted will be required to attend the mandatory new student and parent meeting.

 

Students who are accepted and choose to attend MMSA are expected to continue attending through the end of Grade 8 or as long as residency remains within Harrisburg School District boundaries.

Candidates selected for testing and interview will be notified through email on or around:

Friday, April 22nd

Testing Dates – Out of District Students only

 Student will signup and attend one session

Tuesday, May 10th 4:30 - 6:30 PM                                                                                        Saturday, May 14th 9:00 - 11:00 AM

Student Interview Dates: (Zoom)

There will be a signup genus link sent with a question,
interviews lasts 10-15 minutes

Monday, May 9th - Thursday, May 12th

   4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Acceptance Determination Notification:

Friday, May 27th

Mandatory New Student/Parent Meeting

Application Checklist/Process:

*Complete and submit Admissions Questionnaire (google form link above)

 

*Teacher Recommendations, along with grades, discipline and attendance data will be collected from homeroom teachers by MMSA Attendance Team after form is completed

 

All completed applications are reviewed by the MMSA Admissions Team.

 

If Acceptance Requirements are met (see list above) and all components from the Application Check List (see list above) have been submitted, you will be contacted by our Admissions Team to schedule an interview and placement test.

 

Final acceptance determinations are based upon teacher recommendations, grades, placement scores, attendance, discipline, and an interview.

 

Parents, guardians, and students will be notified of admissions status by letter on or about May 27, 2022. Students who are accepted will be required to attend the mandatory new student and parent meeting.
