Dear Harrisburg School District Parents and Guardians, 

Fall is in the air, first marking period report cards will be issued on November 19, and Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming up very soon. 

Please save the dates of November 24-25 and plan now to attend conferences with your child's teacher(s). This is a valuable opportunity to check in and assess your child’s progress, academic growth, educational strengths, areas of interests, as well as challenges. It's also a great time to get tips on how you can help your child maintain and/or improve their grades in all content areas. 

When parents/guardians attend Parent/Teacher Conferences, it can help lead to improved student outcomes both inside and outside the classroom. 

We want to share a few tips that will help you maximize the Parent/Teacher Conference experience, work with your child’s teachers, and support your child’s academic development. 

• Save the dates of November 24 and 25, 2025.  Stay tuned for various times. 
• Make a list of issues/concerns that you want to discuss with the teacher, such as:
• Ask how your child has progressed during the first marking period.
• Is your child on par academically and socially with their classmates and grade level?
• How can they improve and what additional programs or afterschool services are available to help them grow academically?
• Does your child participate in class discussions and group activities?
• What can you do at home to support your child, especially over Thanksgiving and holiday breaks?
• Speak with your child beforehand about their classroom experience so far this school year and how they think they are doing in the class. 
• Is there anything that your child wants you to discuss with their teacher(s)?
• If needed, request translation and interpretation services.
• Contact your child's teacher or school office for questions or additional information.
