The beginning of the school year is rapidly approaching! We will begin our school year remotely. This letter is to provide you with important information that will assist in preparing for the new school year.
Student Start Date: Monday, August 31, 2020
Online School Day: 8:10am-3:10pm
Homeroom Period: 8:10am-8:35am (Students must attend homeroom to be counted for attendance.)
Attached you will find your child’s schedule. This is the schedule your child will follow both remotely and when we return to school. This schedule will provide homeroom and course information for your child. Before the first day of school students will be invited to their Google Classrooms. They will need to logon and accept the invite. If your child has not picked up a device or does not receive an invite they can go to the MMSA Homepage and find a list of links to their virtual homeroom. From there students will gain access to the rest of their classes. If you have not received any information and are not sure about which homeroom your child is in you have a few options to choose from on August 31st:

As we are beginning remotely it is imperative that we are able to stay in contact with you regarding your student and/or any changes that we need to make regarding schooling. For this purpose, please make sure your student is prepared to give us the name of their parent/guardian, a preferred contact number and email address. All MMSA students will be asked to provide this information on the first day of school. As the school year develops we will use this information to communicate the most current information regarding your student and MMSA. NEW HARRISBURG SCHOOL DISTRICT APP! Download the brand new Harrisburg School District onto your phone through the app store. Be sure to select the Harrisburg School District in Pennsylvania! The Cougar icon is in our school colors of black and grey. Notifications will be sent through this app on a regular basis.
In our remote learning setting all students will be expected to begin each class online according to their schedule for attendance purposes. If a child cannot attend this will be considered an absence. Please email the excuse to email@example.com just like you would in a normal setting. Students are not required to turn their cameras on while in a Zoom session. If a child does turn their camera on we ask that the areas of the student that are on camera are in a modified dress code (plain shirt or polo). Please no Zoom backgrounds, no Bitmoji, or profile pictures on the first day.
We know you must have a lot of questions and we want you to feel free to reach out to us when you need to. While our situation may not be ideal our instructional plan is sound and all decisions are in the best interest for our students. We look forward to working collaboratively with you for your child’s success.
