    Welcome back letter

    Welcome back Students, Parents and Families:

    We are so excited to start a new school year together.  This year as we begin the school year remotely, we want to be sure you have all the information you need to get connected and ready for our first day together. Attached you will find your student’s homeroom and teacher information. 

    Student Start Date:                                Monday, August 31, 2020

    Online School Day:                               8:50-3:50

    Homeroom Period:                                8:50-9:00-(Students must attend homeroom to be counted for attendance.)

    Each day your child will have time throughout the day to work in a virtual classroom with their teacher.  This time will be done through zoom.  Zoom links will be communicated to students through their Google Classroom. In addition to live lessons, students will be assigned various assignments in Google Classroom to complete and return daily.   Teachers will be working the first two weeks to ensure that all students and families understand how to access everything they need to be successful each day.

    It is very important to stay in touch with our families. Please contact the Downey main office at 717-703-1240 or email reckenroth@hbgsd.us with any update information. 

    Teachers will be in contact with all families to help get you set up with Zoom, Google Classroom and Classdojo.  In addition Downey will be hosting Live Zoom Open Houses throughout the week of August 24th to help you.  Please check out the Downey Elementary webpage for important information or contact the main office at 717-703-1240 with any questions.

    Bienvenidos estudiantes, padres y familias:

    Estamos muy contentos de comenzar un nuevo año escolar juntos. Este año, al comenzar el año escolar de forma remota, queremos asegurarnos de que tenga toda la información que necesita para conectarse y estar listo para nuestro primer día juntos. Adjunto encontrará información sobre el salón de clase y el maestro de su estudiante.

    Dia Escolar en Línea:                            8:50-3:50

    Homeroom Period:                                8:50-9:00- (Los estudiantes deben asistir al salón principal para ser contados presente en la asistencia.)

    Cada día, su hijo/a tendrá tiempo durante todo el día para trabajar en un aula virtual con su maestro. Esta vez se hará mediante zoom. Los enlaces de Zoom se comunicarán a los estudiantes a través de su Google Classroom. Además de las lecciones en vivo, a los estudiantes se les asignarán varias tareas en Google Classroom para completar y regresar diariamente. Los maestros trabajarán las dos primeras semanas para asegurarse de que todos los estudiantes y familias comprendan cómo acceder a todo lo que necesitan para tener éxito cada día.
