• Dear Melrose Family:

It is with great excitement that I come into the 2023-24 school year as your new Principal at Melrose. I heard great things about the school and its families.

I have been in education for 24 years at the elementary level broken down with 7 years in the classroom, 5 years as an assistant principal and 12 years as principal. My undergrad was at Albright College where I was a dual major in Business Administration Marketing and Elementary Education. During my 11 years in Richmond, VA, I earned my M.Ed. in Educational Leadership through Virginia Commonwealth University. After moving back to PA in 2010 and taking on my first principal role, I then earned my Superintendent Letter of Eligibility through California University of PA.

We will have high expectations with high levels of support by working with you, communicating to you, and being a team to educate and grow your beautiful children.

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Matthew E. Shore

  • Dear Melrose Family:

I am honored to have the opportunity to help lead a school with such resilient students, an extremely dedicated staff and a supportive school community. I feel very fortunate to be part of this school and to support the staff, students, and families.

I have been working with Harrisburg School District for 26 years.  I started my career at Steele School as a 6th grade teacher.  I taught there for about 10 years as a 6th, 7th and 8th grade teacher.  I then moved to Camp Curtin as a 7th and 8th grade science teacher and Dean of student for about 11 years.  I was hired as an assistant principal in 2020 and I was at Rowland.  I wanted to get some elementary experience and moved to Foose.  I have made amazing connections throughout my years here in the district with staff and community.  I truly love working with the children and their families.

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Christine Estright
