Special Education

Special Education is planned instruction specifically designed to address the educational and related needs of students with disabilities. Students who are eligible for special education services receive their instruction based upon the District's core curriculum. The IEP team documents current education abilities and areas of needs and outlines goals, teaching strategies, accommodations/adaptations or modifications, as well as other support systems that may help the student to access the general education curriculum.

In order to ensure that all children and families are served appropriately, dedicated and highly competent staff are in place. The Harrisburg School District is proud of the dedicated special educators, support staff, related service providers, general educators and administrators who support all students with disabilities.
