District Comprehensive Plan
Every member of the Harrisburg School District has a role in the academic achievement of students. It takes dedicated excellent teachers and administrators, committed and engaged parents and families, and involved and supportive community members to support all students in achieving their goals. In high-performing school districts, each member of the community recognizes their contribution to student success and is committed to helping students succeed academically. High-performing districts have district-wide focus on student achievement and recognize that success requires data-driven decision making, a well-structured and well-implemented curriculum, ongoing professional learning, present and engaged teachers and an environment steeped in respectful relationships with students.
Comprehensive Planning represents an expression of faith in world-class public education and reflects the continued quest for excellence in our district. The future is also at the forefront as we have moved through the Comprehensive Planning process as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. A 3-year plan will enable us to keenly focus on our instructional programs and the comprehensive supports that we provide to our students. The planning process has been an opportunity to identify and address our most important needs, to think creatively, and ultimately, to demonstrate our capacity for educational leadership.
We welcome your feedback about the first draft of the district plan.
