ADMINISTRATION OF MEDICATION AT SCHOOL
Medications to be administered in the school health office will follow the procedure set forth in the Medication Policy. These guidelines include but are not limited to:
- Medications will only be administered two hours after the start of school and up to one hour before the end of the school day. Any exception to this policy will be in the case of an emergency situation.
- Medications must be brought to the school by the parent.Medications must be in the original pharmacy container and must have the correct date on the label.
Parent must also bring:
- A completed Authorization Form with parent signature must be brought in for each medication. This form is located in the Forms Tab and is linked below.
- A written Physician Order from the doctor must be brought in for each medication. Any change to a medication must be accompanied by a new physician order and new parent authorization form.
Note: Only emergency medications (Epi-pens, and Inhalers) can be administered by staff other than the nurse.
