We hope this message finds you well during this challenging time! Now that school buildings are closed for the remainder of the year, we want to inform you and your child of the district’s academic plan for the remainder of the 2019 – 2020 school year.
Please continue to go to the district website www.hbgsd.us for details on academic and other resources offered to the Harrisburg School District.
Television Broadcasting-
Each day of the week there will be options for you and your child to watch shows and videos (made by Harrisburg teachers) reviewing concepts that have been previously taught. If you are a Comcast customer, you can find the programming on channel 20. If you don’t have Comcast, the videos are on the Harrisburg YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ufOkAka3WA. Previous days lessons are on this site.
Harrisburg Academic Enrichment Opportunities-
This document contains a list of all of the educational websites available to your child.

Journaling-
Over the next week, you will receive a journal for your child sent to you through the mail. Each day students will be asked to write and respond to something they have watched either on Harrisburg YouTube or WITF. There will be more information coming as many people have questions about this activity.
Food Distribution-
Attached is the latest update on food distribution. The Grab and Go boxes will only be available for pick-up on Tuesdays from 11 am-12:30 pm at the Admin Building (Cougar Academy), Foose, John Harris, Rowland, Downey, and Ben Franklin. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank will also be giving out food Thursdays ONLY at 4 pm at the same locations.
Zoom Meetings.
Zoom is a tool that is used for communications between teachers and students/families. Zoom has video, voice, as well as a chat function. Emails will be sent every Sunday with the link for the upcoming week. Meeting times are listed below by subject area. We asked that students act just like they would at school. Failure to do that will result in the student being removed from that zoom meeting. We will go over zoom etiquette and norms at the beginning of every hour.
Meetings occur Monday through Thursday for the remainder of the school year. Monday, May 25th is Memorial Day so there will not be meetings offered this day in observance of this holiday.
